Dear patient,

Please take a moment to read the following information before your appointment at the sperm analysis laboratory:

• Certain analysis parameters require a fresh semen sample (maximum 1/2 hour old). It is therefore essential that you provide the semen sample directly to our clinic.
• Please ensure that the time since your last ejaculation is between 2 and 5 days, with 3 days being the optimal waiting period.
• Please be on time for your appointment. Register at the Urology Outpatient Clinic desk (‘Frauen-Kopf-Klinik', Building 3, 1st floor). You will be allocated a seat in the waiting area.
• You will be called to provide your details. Please bring all your doctor's referral with you.
• Afterwards, you will be accompanied to a windowless sample collection room.
• Please wash your hands and penis thoroughly with soap, additional disinfection of your hands appears of benefit.
• Collect the sample through masturbation. A video will be available for assistance, if needed.
• For reasons of hygiene, it is not permitted for another person to be present in the sample collection room.
• The sample should be collected in the cup provided. If part of the sample is spilled, please inform us. The volume of the semen sample is crucial for the analysis. It is particularly important to collect the first fraction of the ejaculate, which is particularly rich in sperm, in the cup.
• Once you have given the sample, you can inform us by telephone and leave the clinic.
• The results of the analysis will be sent in writing to the referring doctor. For data protection reasons, no results will be given over the phone.
